I have been doing a series of posts on my other blog, Karen's Different Corners, Titled,

"Show Me Your Cover"

Now I'm not a cover person. I don't buy a book based on the cover. The title of the book might catch my eye and sometimes I'll pick up a book because someone has recommended it, but most of the time it's the blurb that has the final say.

Take the blurb for The Good Dr. Grant for example;

Amy knows she wants just one man's attention, just one to unleash her passion and connect with, but which one? There's Tom, her best friend forever, whom she's had a crush on since they were just kids. Then there's Dr. Grant Graysen, the veterinarian that took over her father's practice, but wait...Is that Kent, her ex husband, the most passionate man she has ever known, what's he doing here?

Okay after reading the blurb, you get the idea it's a romance, right?

And then you have my cover;

A Dog? Now you are probably wondering; How does a dog represent romance?

Well if you read the blurb up there...Did you read it? I'll wait...

As you can see, The Good Dr. Grant, is a veterinarian.

In my opinion, a book cover should not only represent your story, but a part of you.

So the photo is one that I took of my son's dog, Sandi. Isn't she adorable! Now the only things represented by me are, the name, the purple iris on the back cover, the blurb, and the fact that I choose the colors.
This is my first attempt at No Genre Fiction. It has no Romance, no Mystery, no Zombies, Aliens, or Vampires. It follows the rules as to no genre and it is a fictional story about something that can happen in everyday life.

So do you think it could be classified as, No Genre Fiction? Or do you think it would be Chick lit?

Find one person's definition for Chick lit here http://chicklitbooks.com/what-is-chick-lit/

Okay here's my story...

"All Grown Up"

I look at my reflection in the mirror. No longer a child, there’s a young woman staring back at me. I hear the knock at the door and glance over my shoulder as my maid of honor opens it.

Standing there in his dark tuxedo, looking more handsome than I can ever remember, is my dad. He puts out his arm to me and asks, “Ready to go?”

I walk over and kiss him on the cheek. Our eyes are almost even now and I wonder, Has he gotten shorter, or is it just that I have grown taller? This man who used to tower over me when he taught me how to ride a bike and to throw a baseball when I wanted to join little league. Leaving a smudge of lipstick, I wipe it away with the tip of a finger, nod my approval, and notice the gray that streaks through his hair. I slip my arm through his and whisper, “As ready as I’ll ever be.” I let him lead me out into the foyer as the music begins. Our steps are matched in harmony as we walk towards the alter and I can feel the eyes on us, watching every step we take. There is Aunt Mae, smiling and wiggling her fingers in a wave. And Uncle Henry, tugging at his tie, and looking bored out of his skin. Too many people watching us. It makes the heat rise high on my cheeks. I feel exposed and jittery. I stumble and tighten my grip on dad’s arm.

He pats my hand and smiles. His smile comforts me. Me, his little girl, looking all grown up in white satin and lace. “You okay?” He asks. “You’re not going to faint on me, are you?”

I smile at him through the lacy gauze of my veil. “Dad were you this nervous when you married mom?”

He leans his head against mine and whispers so only I can hear. “I was so nervous; I forgot to put my socks on. My feet started to sweat and my shoes slipped up and down. I had blisters for weeks.”

I chuckle at his secret. We pause next to the pew mom is sitting in. Even though her smile beams with love, her eyes fill with tears. She dabs at her eyes and gives me a watery smile. I smile back and can feel my own tears well up as I turn my attention to the handsome man waiting for me at the alter. Dad takes my hand and holds it out to this man, who in a few moments of time will become my husband. As I let go of dad’s hand I know in his eyes I will always be his little girl, but as I take the hand of my husband to be, I know in fact that I am “All Grown Up.”

Okay that's my story. What do you think? C.K. Hopper left a comment on my other post saying that No Genre Fiction sounds rather boring, so I tried to make it as entertaining as possible.

I am writing another one titled, "Passing the Time" that I will submit to a magazine that only accepts No Genre Fiction.

Also I have a question; Do you think No Genre Fiction can only be written in first person POV, or do you think it's possible to write it in second or third person POV?

And if you'd like to try No Genre Fiction, post a short story on your blog and then email me the link and I'll do a post, sharing everyone's links.

Have a great weekend everyone! And stop by my other blog and check out all the covers so far for, "Show Me Your Cover! http://karensdifferentcorners.wordpress.com/category/book-covers/show-me-your-cover/

khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02039448074178382326noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2017306041804208602.post-25374176744473404242013-06-18T08:30:00.004-07:002013-06-18T08:30:50.180-07:00No Genre Fiction!I like a challenge. I like to be challenged and I like to challenge others. It helps our brain come alive, our creativity become fresh again and most important it keeps us moving forward.

I've been trying my hand at poetry. Now I'm not a poet. I write cute little rhyming poems. Nothing major or deep thinking about them, but one of the poems I have started writing, has challenged me to turn it into a children's picture book, along with my own illustrations (I'm not an illustrator either) But for me it's a challenge.

Anyway...I write romance novels and started thinking of short romance stories to submit to magazines. So I googled "submitting stories to magazines" and I found a few different sites that list magazines that take unsolicited submissions.

Here's one list for the UK http://www.booktrust.org.uk/books-and-reading/short-stories/magazines/

And then there is this one US http://www.everywritersresource.com/topliterarymagazines.html

And this one http://www.christopherfielden.com/short-story-tips-and-writing-advice/short-story-magazines.php#ShortStoryMagsUSA

Now what I've found, is that quite a few of the magazines say they only accept "No Genre Fiction"
Now I must not be the brightest person, because I had to google to find out what they meant by "No Genre Fiction"
I guess I should have paid more attention in my English 101 Story Composition class in college, But at that time I had never thought about writing and two weeks into the class my brother passed away unexpectedly and for a minute there, I almost dropped all of my classes, but I knew my brother would want me to finish. It was the last semester I needed to graduate. So I ended up writing all my stories for the class, about my brother as a dedication to him. In fact one of those stories is published in Patti Roberts book titled
"I Believe" (My story is titled "Do you believe") And you can pick up "I Believe" for free here on Amazon

So what exactly is "No Genre Fiction" Well my understanding of it is, it is a fictional story with NO romance, mystery, zombies, ghosts, no paranormal, no sci-fi, no...What! How do you write a "No Genre Fiction?" Better yet what do you write about? And some of them even say they accept stories with up to 10,000 words!
I might be able to come up with a paragraph or two, maybe even a page, but 10,000 words? Yikes! Your stories have to be things that happen in everyday occurrences. Things that could actually happen and yet they must be fiction.

Well, I've come up with a few ideas that might work with those guidelines.

How about;

Shopping for a new dress.

Or

My son's baseball game.

Or maybe

Working in the yard on a beautiful day.

These are just some off the top of my head.

What kind of ideas can you come up with, that you think would work great with, "No Genre Fiction?"

First, if you'd like to participate in, "Show me your Cover" you can find the rules here;
http://karensdifferentcorners.wordpress.com/2013/06/12/come-one-come-all/

In fact it's that post that got me to thinking about reviews vs. critiques.

Why is it, when we write a review, we feel the need to critique the book and tear it apart? Pointing out all the flaws, instead of just enjoying the story.

I recently read, Devil's Nightmare written by Robert Pruneda. In fact it is the first cover featured on "Show me your Cover"

It is a beautiful cover and a great story! And I gave it an honest review, but where do I get the right to critique it?

When I ask for reviews of my own books, I do ask for the honest truth. Give me all you've got, but that's because I haven't used critique partners or beta readers and I know I should. I know my stories are good, but my writing sucks, BUT I'm learning. Wow that was a little harsh, but then again, I am my biggest critic and my own worst enemy. I tend to grab the football and run for the goalpost and...Touchdown! Oops...I say as the other team pats me on the back. "Thank's, they say, 'for winning the game for us" It's all about hindsight, Karen. Stop and think before you speak.

But I like to read a book for the stories. I like a book that will give me an adventure. That will take me away. Make me use my imagination, and have me afraid of turning out the lights, and "Devil's Nightmare" did just that.

I'm a big Stephen King fan and have recently started re-reading some of his books. I re-read "Dead Zone" last week. Now Stephen King surely has beta readers, critique partners, proofreaders, and editors up the ying-yang, and yet there were typographical errors. WHAT! Stephen King? No way! Yes way.

I read, "Under the Dome" (long book, by the way) And there was one part in it that I just skimmed over. It didn't need to be there. He could have left it out and the story would have been just fine. But...

Since when did I become someone who critiques someone else's work? That's not me. When I pick up a book, I read it to be entertained, to get lost, to slip away from my humdrum life :-) and to find an adventure.

So from now on, if you ask me (Rob didn't) for a review, you are going to get a basic, "I loved it, or I hated it"
If you ask me to beta read or critique it, then that's a different story.

Pick up "Devil's Nightmare" and read it. Put your critical eye aside and Read it for the story. It's a thrilling story!

He promptly, and very willfully, turns her mundane life upside down and sideways, leaving her torn between the conviction that he's an aging Goth with a fetish for drinking human blood and a need for medical intervention, and the impossible possibility that he's a real live eight-hundred vampire bent on making her his consort.
Today, I want to welcome S.M. Boyce. She is touring around the web, via blogs, promoting her newest novel, "Treason" And has granted us an interview, giving us a peek into her creative mind.
Welcome S.M. it is wonderful to have you here. I know you have been busy with this tour, so we will get straight to the questions.

Many people don’t like the name they were given at birth. Do you like your given name? If not, what would you rather have been named?
I didn’t like my name when I was a kid, but I’m a fan now. I used to want to go by my middle name (Michelle) so people would call me Mickey. I’m still not even sure why.

Do you write under your given name or a pseudonym?
Pseudonym—S.M. Boyce.
Is there a routine you go through before you begin writing?
I usually listen to the song that most reminds me of the book I’m about to write. It’s my meditation of sorts. I get into the book’s voice this way, and it’s a trigger that can fuel me no matter how I’m feeling.
Is there anyone you admire?
I admire Neil Gaiman for all he’s managed to do in his career and for the way he still engages with fans, even though he’s busy. He’s actually tweeted me before, which I never thought would happen—it’s like the man doesn’t sleep.
What do you like to read?
Fantasy and paranormal anything, as long as it has strong characters and a solid plot with no logic holes. I need a character’s motivation to be real or I won’t buy into a story.
Do you have a favorite author?
Neil Gaiman, for his urban fantasy work; J.R.R. Tolkien for inpsirng me with his Lord of the Rings series; and J.K. Rowling for letting me grow up with Harry Potter.
Does it have to be quiet when you write or do you like background noise? TV, music, etc.
I like cinematic music, usually, or a fan if I really need to focus.
Beach or mountains?
Mountains. I burn way too easily to ever enjoy the beach.
What inspires you?
Everything. There’s so much wonder in the world, I can’t help but be in constant awe. I keep a pinterest board of my favorite swipes (ideas) if you want to have a look.
Favorite snack food?
Twizzlers. They’re so bad for me…but they taste soooo good.
Doesn’t matter who we are, man, woman, child, all of us get freaked out by something. Spiders, mice, snakes, bugs, geese, etc. What freaks you out?
Cotton near my nails. I feel like they’re about to fall off whenever it gets close.
What is the most unusual job you’ve ever had?
Haha! This is an awesome question. Strangest job was right out of high school, working for a jeweler who ran her shop out of her basement. She sent people the wrong orders and got annoyed when they complained. I lasted two days.
I read on another blog, that a writer was working on 10 novels at once. Confusing! Do you work on one or multiple novels at a time?
I haven’t yet, but I actually am about to get started. The trick with this, I think, is to write one and shift to the other while your editors are going through the first. But 10 novels? That seems a little ridiculous. I don’t know how anyone could manage that many novels and not forget important details/character motivations.
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Wire wrap pendants. I’ve actually gotten pretty good. It’s such a relaxing hobby (usually) and I love that I can create something when I finish. My recent pendants are actually inspired by the Grimoire Trilogy, so I put them for sale on my site. You’re welcome to take a look because I’d love to hear what you think.
And last question…Do you have anything new coming out that you’d like to share with us?
Sure thing. Heritage, the last in the Grimoire Trilogy, comes out next Fall. I’m making great progress on it, and that should be right on time. Each year after, I’ll release a novel with the backstory on side characters like Stone, Deidre, and the first Vagabond. Down the line, I even plan to release a print copy of the free online encyclopedia of the world. So follow my blog and stay tuned!
I’m also going to release the first book in a new series next fall, just before Heritage. If you’d like to get updates on this new series, make sure you follow my bookworms-only blog or sign up for ARCs of all my future works
I've been tagged in The Look Challenge by fellow writer and friend Jo Denton. Here's the way it works: You take your current manuscript and find the first instance of the word "look". Then you post the surrounding paragraphs as an excerpt of the book on your blog. Lastly, you tag five more blogging authors who you think might be a good choice for the game.

I am working on a new series, which is still a big secret as to the overall title and genre :-) But here's an excerpt from the first book titled, "Alexiah" which is a romance of course, lol, but also a ??? This first book deals with the end of the world on 12/21/12 and I still haven't figure out the overall genre yet.

"A" is for Alexiah

Moaning, Alexiah rolls over onto her back and shields her eyes from the harsh sun. It takes her a few moments to remember what has happened. She struggles to sit up and then touches a tender spot on her head. She can feel the large bump and the dried blood in her hair. She looks around and sees nothing. No trees, no houses, no people, nothing. “Oh God what did you do?” She whispers as she looks at the vast emptiness. Everywhere she turns; there is nothing but dirt, rocks, and mountains. Alexiah drops her head into her hands and cries.

*****

Alexiah lights a couple of candles before pulling the door shut. She slides the bolt lock and shivers. “Okay Sam, I guess we are locked in for the night. I’m not sure what time it is, but if the clock is right, it’s about 6:15 p.m. The dog wags his tail and Alexiah pats him on the head and looks around the small shelter. “Now what? What are we supposed to do Sam?” Alexiah feels the hot tears sting her eyes and squeezes them shut. Taking a deep breath and blowing it out hard, she tells herself, “Stop it Alexiah. Crying is not going to help.” She glances around the small, but well stocked shelter, and seeing the notebooks that John stocked up on, she smiles. “He was the writer not me, but…”
She grabs the top one, a new pen from the box and sits down at the small table. “Now what do I write?” She looks down at the blank page. “Think Alexiah, think.”

I haven't posted here in a while and thought, "Gee maybe I should get busy!"
There is so much I need to catch up on. I seem to have fallen behind.
I signed up for CampNaNo and then packed up my bags and came home :-(
My Dad was in the hospital all last week and came home yesterday.
I haven't called him yet this morning, but talked to him last night and he was doing fine.
I am supposed to be writing a guest post for Paul Dorset for his blog and haven't gotten that done.
If you'd like to be a guest blogger on his blog comment here,
http://blog.pauldorset.com/2012/07/free-publicity-for-indie-authors.html
He also does author interviews on his blog.
And I also am looking for guest bloggers on my other blog,
http://karensdifferentcorners.wordpress.com/2012/07/25/guest-bloggers/

Okay so I still need to know, "Am I backwards?"
I had written another blog post a few months ago asking, Am I Backwards? http://differentcornersinmylife.blogspot.com/2011/09/am-i-backwards.html
And I had been talking to Angela via emails (I interviewed her on my other blog today! and you can find that interview here
http://karensdifferentcorners.wordpress.com/2012/08/29/wow-its-wednesdays-wonders-with-angela-orlowski-peart/ )
Anyway, I was telling her I wrote the 4th book of the series "Chris' Journey Turning Different Corners" 1st. Originally it was going to be a stand alone novel, but it had some unanswered questions and I didn't know what to write for NaNoWriMo last November, so I wrote the first book! Yay! and the e-book is available here, http://www.amazon.com/Journey-Turning-Different-Corners-ebook/dp/B008NQDUQY
I have been working on the 2nd book and have the first 3 chapters and the ending done, but for some reason I want to put it aside and write the 3rd book which is foremost in my mind right now.

One of the questions I ask when I interview an author/writer is:
"I read on another blog, that a writer was working on 10 novels at once. Confusing! Do you work on one or multiple novels at a time?"
I tried this when I was writing "Chris' Journey" and "The Good Dr. Grant" and I kept calling Chris, Amy and Amy, Chris. So Confusing! And yet here I am starting a new series...Now what does that have to do with me being backwards you ask. Well...I wrote the prologue for the first book, actually for each book in the series and have written the epilogue for the final book. But I'm writing books 3,4, & 5 first. I haven't any idea where books 1 & 2 are going :-/ In fact, I don't know what genre this series will fall under! But I have books 3-5 in my head screaming, Write me, write me, Write me! I won't give any details away yet, except that my beliefs and viewpoints with this series are my own and might cause some controversy with others, but controversy could be a good thing, right? :-)
Now that I've talked your ear off, I have to share my horoscope for today. I think it's perfect :-)
Happy Hump Day everyone!

August 29, 2012
Positive change rarely happens without effort. Keep this in mind as transformation occurs quickly. You may feel as though you're in the middle of a whirlpool and getting sucked deeper and deeper, unsure of where you'll ultimately end up. This is merely the "nose to the grindstone" phase. Trust that your efforts will ultimately be rewarded.

Quick everyone Look at your twitter bio and the twitter bio of the tweeter next to you. 3...2...1...GO!
Okay did you check them out? Good. Now have you ever noticed how a lot of our profile bios sound like they should be on a dating website?
Disclaimer: Here are some examples and these are completely fictional and do not pertain to any tweeters that I know of.

I love walking in the rain, reading, dogs, kids, and I'm a writer.

Wonderful dad, writer, runner, and husband with awesome abs, check out my fb pics here.

There are so many different ones. The only thing missing is a physical description. I'm 5'5" weigh above 100, 34 26 36 and well there's just no describing me. What they don't tell you is they're either 72 or married with 6 kids! LOL!

Women who tell you they have been happily married for 10 years and yet have a profile pic of their jaw dropping cleavage that goes from here to there! What do their husbands think? Hmm... Or do they know?

And then there are some of the pictures (personally I have an iris for my profile pic, that's all you get, I'm not photogenic) A tweeter I follow changed their profile pic and I had to send them a DM and ask, "What is that?" Isn't that awful, I know shame on me, but they explained that it was a certain body part...Hmmm...okay and that they were trying to look sexy. Well if I have to ask what it is, it's not sexy! If you want a sexy profile pic, here's what you do. Girls wear your low cut blouse and take a pic of your cleavage, or if you have great legs, put on some stilettos and take a pic of your legs from the knee down, or take a pic of you in a short skirt.
And Guys, us women love to see your pecs and abs or your quirky smile and that raised eyebrow.

If you stop and think about it, Image is everything. It's how you want other people to see you.
I write sexy romance novels and I have a nice flat tummy and thin waist, but I don't post how I look in a bikini (That's reserved for fb :-) No I'm kidding you won't find them there either.) but that's not how I want people to see me. I want people to see me as a writer of sexy romance books. The purple iris is my logo so when I comment somewhere, people know it's me.
I know, sex sells, but are you going to be doing a book signing in a bikini so people know it's you? Or, Guys are you going to be setting there shirtless showing off your abs while doing a book signing? Or an interview with an agent? Unless you are auditioning for Chippendales then I'd suggest going shirtless for sure!

Oh well just my take on things. Wonder how many twitter followers will unfollow and how many new followers I'll get? Maybe next time we'll talk about, "Do you ever wonder why certain people follow you on twitter?"

month. Why, you ask? Because when you check on your KDP reports and all you see are those gray bars, it

can be depressing. He told me, "It's worse when you see those gray bars at the end of the month." Wow I

really have never thought about that. So I was thinking we need to come up with a twitter hashtag

#nograybars to let others know that we need to get the word out for our books. Let's say we are halfway

through the month and all we see are gray bars, Eek! Tweet it out with the hashtag, so we can help stamp

out those gray bars. What do you think? Would it work? Do we have to create a special group for this? I am

not sure how or what the rules are for creating hashtags. Do we just throw out a tweet with the hashtag?

Any ideas? Love to hear what you think, because I don't think anyone likes those gray bars.khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02039448074178382326noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2017306041804208602.post-80941975434082399732012-07-30T21:00:00.000-07:002012-07-30T21:00:13.859-07:00Special Promo of SHADES OF SPRING 1964; LETTERS TO MY DAUGHTER
Maxine tries to deal with her mother’s death in her own way. But when she finds old letters revealing her family’s past she finds herself creating a bond with someone else, not knowing how far their history goes. Taylor is amused and infuriated with Marine, and no matter how hard he tries he can’t stay away from her. Now he finds himself being her main supporter, the only one she can lean on as she travels back to the past. And when the past is resolved they now have to think of their futures, while they concentrate on their present.

Chapter 1 “Yes, Maxine.” Maxine didn’t miss the hint of exasperation in the professor’s voice. When she had raised her hand in class, she had seen the professor roll his eyes before he forced a smile and called on her. “I think we should do African literature,” she began, almost bouncing off her seat. She saw the relieved expression on the professor’s face. It always bothered her when, each time she wanted to make a contribution, there was a look of dread on his face. Maxine looked around the room taking in her classmate’s expressions and, despite the frustration and anger she saw from most of them, she went on. “Especially books by authors who wrote during or about colonization in Africa.” She didn’t care what the professor or the rest of the class thought. She thought it was a brilliant idea. The resistance from the class didn’t take long. “Why?” her classmate Taylor yelled out from the back of the room. Maxine always felt like his voice was constantly at the back of her mind, always disapproving of her ideas or suggestions. There were times she thought Taylor’s voice was part of her subconscious. “What do you mean by why?” Maxine slightly turned her head towards the back. She took in quick, short breaths as she prepared to defend her suggestion. “Why should we?” Taylor went on, addressing the professor. “The books for this unit have already been chosen. I don’t think we should add another book just because she said so.” “She has a name.” Maxine turned her body to face Taylor. Her eyes narrowed as she burned holes in his pale forehead with her acid gaze. “We can find the time,” she said through clenched teeth. Maxine turned back to face her professor. “As a student, I have the right to ask for more knowledge.” There was no way the professor could deny her the opportunity to learn. “Get a private tutor. Some of us don’t have time to squeeze in more reading,” Taylor hissed out. Maxine could see the frustration on his face. He had reached his boiling point, but she kept on pushing. “As an African American–” Taylor cut in. “Oh please,” he scoffed. “No one focuses on that stuff anymore.” “That’s why I suggested it. I think we should all remember that time.” Maxine’s voice was like that of a little girl trying to wheedle her father into a new pony, charming but unwavering because she wanted something and she wanted it badly. “We, as Literature students and as people of this world, should care. It is where our history begins.” “Exactly! History!” Taylor made his way to the front of the class and stood beside the professor. Maxine held on to the edge of her desk, her nails digging into the wood, and called on every single patient cell in her body. She wasn’t going to let Taylor beat her, not a chance. She needed to make an argument and a good one. With a smile on her face, she also made her way to the front of the class. “As Literature students, we also have to learn the African Literature way of writing.” “I think we have learned enough about other types of writing,” Taylor smirked. “I think the fact that you said that proves what an air-head you really are.” Taylor turned to face Maxine. The anger in his glare displaced the warm humor in his usually kind, brown eyes. She could feel his gaze burn into her, but she refused to look away. She wasn’t going to be moved. “I have made my decision.” The professor stepped in between them, blocking any path they would have to each other. “Everyone pair up and find a short story by an African writer during the time period of colonization. Write a five-thousand word essay on the author and his style of writing. It is due after spring break. That way we can all get what we want in the shortest time period.” Maxine cheered, sticking her tongue out at a very irritated Taylor. The professor turned to her and Taylor, a smug smile crossing his lips. “The both of you will partner up.” “No!” they shouted in unison. “I can’t stand her,” Taylor bluntly said. “He’s an idiot,” she spat back. The professor crossed his arms over his chest. “I don’t care. You don’t submit the report, you both fail. And let me warn you, I will be able to tell if it’s individual work.” He turned back to the class. “Everyone is dismissed.” Taylor and Maxine got caught up in the rush as everyone made their way out of class. The other students shot murderous glares at them and muttered under their breaths. “If looks could kill,” Taylor laughed, “you would be dead a hundred times by now.” Maxine gathered her books to her chest. She looked at Taylor or, rather, at his shirt. He was a little over 6’3”, which made it feel as if he towered over her. She slowly scanned up the red-checked shirt he wore over a white-t shirt until her eyes met his. “My neck is getting tired. What’s the plan?” “I think it would be better if we both just did our own thing.” He leaned down and whispered in her ear, his warm breath brushing her neck. “I’m too pretty to go to prison.” “So, what you are saying is that I would live longer if we did this assignment separately.” She nodded, acknowledging that he certainly had the strength to follow through on his threat. She wasn’t completely sure he was kidding. Taylor gave her a slow nod. “Fine,” she barked. Maxine let her eyes drop slowly back to the front of his shirt. “I wouldn’t want to work with someone who dresses like a Back Street Boy with Mr. T hair.” “It’s a Mohawk,” he said through clenched teeth. “Then I suggest that you go get your money back.” She tugged at the bottom corner of his shirt, pushed back her shoulders and walked away. “You can’t deny it,” he called after her and she glanced at him. “I look good.” The smug look on his face told her he actually believed that. Maxine stomped her feet hard on the marble floor. A temper tantrum is what her mother used to call it, but, to Maxine, it was her way of letting out the frustration. “I can’t stand that guy!” she muttered to herself as she headed home. Maxine always battled with having to go back home. At the beginning of each morning, she had the energy to stand in front of the mirror and engineer the best cheerful face she could, but at the end of the day, she struggled with leaving school. Maxine arrived at the only unweeded garden and overgrown lawn in the whole neighborhood. Their little house didn’t always look that way, but ever since her mother got sick, there was no one to weed the rose garden and no one to nag her father about painting the white picket fence. Things had changed and they were slowly getting worse. She stood before the front door, knowing very well that the white door held a different significance to her than to other daughters coming home from school. She looked over at the withered garden and decided that the flowers seemed to be adopting the same condition as her mother — death. She wrapped her fingers around the door knob, took a deep breath, and then opened it. Before she stepped in, Maxine whispered a silent prayer for strength to the universe and the big guy above. One step at a time, a smile, a laugh, a prayer, and somehow she would be able to get through this day. Maxine looked down the long hallway. In reality, it was not more than ten meters long, but every time she had to go to the guest room, which had been changed into the hospice, she felt like she was walking the yellow brick road. However, rather than leading to the Land of Oz, this one led her to the only feeling of love she knew. Another step, a deep breath, and she opened the bedroom door. Maxine’s nostrils were attacked by the pungent smell of medication. The rhythmic beeping sound of the heart monitor connected to her mother reminded Maxine that she needed to put on a brave face. “Hey, beautiful.” Maxine forced a smile as she noticed the exhausted expression on her mother’s face. Lynne’s hair was shaggy, her toffee skin pale, and her lips cracked. Maxine saw the exhaustion on her mother’s ravaged face. Maxine’s father, Daniel, was cemented in the same spot he was always in, seated next to her mother’s death bed. Daniel had the same exhausted expression on his face, but on him the expression was permanently engraved in the creases around his eyes and mouth. Maxine always led with the games before she got down to the real issue. Maxine’s eyes quickly looked around her mother’s body and bed. There seemed to be more tubes and machines than there had been when she left in the morning. Her father gave Maxine a quick glance and then his eyes returned to his wife. Daniel’s eyes seemed to hang out of their sockets. His wrinkled hand held onto his wife’s, securely but gently, as if the only way to keep her by his side was to never let go of her hand. Maxine looked at the simplest form of love they had, and her heart broke. What would her father do when Lynne died? Daniel had tied his life to her mother’s in every single way humanly possible, and here was something that he couldn’t protect her from. Maxine’s mother had been diagnosed with cancer two years ago. They thought that they had beaten it, but it had come back just before Christmas with the vengeance of a rabid demon, and it had its claws in her. No matter what they tried or how hard her father fought for every treatment known to man, it wasn’t letting go. Her mother had been discharged from the hospital two weeks prior and had been sent home to die in her own bed surrounded by her family. Now Maxine was standing there witnessing the greatest love ever shared, knowing that it would soon come to a heart-wrenching end. She had prepared herself, she thought, for her mother’s death. She had also come to terms with the fact that her father would die soon after her mother. There was no way one could live without the other. Although her father called her ‘the greatest love of his life’, she knew that her mother was his only reason for living. Once Lynne died, he wouldn’t have any other reason to stick around. Maxine sat at her mother’s feet. Lynne cupped Maxine’s cheek with her hand and smiled as much as her strength allowed. “You are the most beautiful girl ever,” she strained to say, and the words rattled like a stone in a tin can. Hearing her mother sound so weak broke Maxine’s heart, but she hid her pain behind her smile. Maxine thought of asking her mother how she was feeling, but it didn’t seem that important. Asking only frustrated Lynne because she was always economical with the truth for the sake of the withering man at her side. Listening to her mother put up a brave front, and her father whimper every time she did, cut through Maxine. Daniel smoothed his fingers over the thin hand stuck with needles; it was a gesture that had become habitual. Maxine didn’t think her mother felt the discomfort of the IVs anymore, and let her father do it because it was the only way he felt useful. “I have a boatload of assignments to do; I’ll come and sit with you in a couple of hours.” Maxine walked out of the room and a thought crossed her mind. Would this be the last time? She made her way to her room and got on the Internet. She needed to figure out which book she and Taylor had to write their essays about. The sooner she did, the sooner they could split the responsibility and be done with the assignment, and each other, all together.

I love reading my horoscopes everyday and think my sign fits me perfectly. So if you really want to know what I'm like...

Aquarius Personality:
Aquarians present themselves in one of two ways. On one hand, you’ll see someone who is shy, and quiet. On the other, an Aquarian can be boisterous, eccentric, and energetic. Both are deep thinkers with a love of helping others. Highly intellectual, this is a sign of fierce independence that prizes intuition tempered with logic. Both personality types have an uncanny ability to see both sides of an argument without prejudice, making them excellent problem-solvers. While very much attuned to the energies around them, Aquarians have a deep need to take time out alone and away to rejuvenate themselves. The keyword for this sign is imagination. The Aquarian can see a world of possibilities even when there appears to be none.

Strengths:
Progressive, original, humanitarian, independent.
Weaknesses:
Runs from emotional expression, uncompromising, temperamental, aloof.
Charismatic marks:
Good looks, beautiful eyes, angular faces, thin build.
Likes:
Fun with friends, fighting for causes, helping others, intellectual conversation, a good listener.
Dislikes:
Limitations, being lonely, broken promises, dull or boring situations, people who disagree with them.
Best environment:
Any gathering of people to exchange ideas.

In the aftermath of this country's darkest hour, the attacks on the World Trade Center Twin Towers, DIA specialists stumble across a vital intelligence transmission that could lead to one of the masterminds behind the attacks. A team of ARMY Rangers is sent behind foreign lines to find and extract this mysterious man, but before they can reach the landing site their C-130 transport is targeted by a roving team with surface to air missiles - a team placed by CIA assets to protect the Rangers' target. With his chute damaged and the mission compromised, Lt. Jason Callaway (known as JC to his friends), faces the biggest challenge of his military career: to bring in one his nation's greatest enemies, one of her own turned traitor. After JC overcomes impossible odds to escape the intelligence assets who try to turn him for their own purposes, he finds himself court-martialed and the rest of his team imprisoned. The organization behind it all target JC's wife in an attempt to bring him in again. A failed midnight attack leads to JC being injured and on the run while his wife Karen, is hospitalized for GSW to the chest. With time running out, and his wife's life on the line, JC brings the fight to them, employing all his skill and training (and all the favors he can call in) to find the men who want him dead. When other means prove ineffective, JC's unknown enemies turn one of their best agents loose after him, a woman named Lori who has never failed. With rogue agents and intelligence turf wars, bitter secrets and desperate men with too many names; the only chance for success will come down to what one man is willing to do for the people (and country) that he loves. This whirlwind adventure is a must read for all.
I am working on a release date of July 4th. 2012 for the first book in the series,
CHRIS

Sitting there staring at the cake, Chris watches the flames flicker on the candles as the colored wax drips down onto the chocolate frosting. Her eyes blur with the hot tears that spill over and roll down her cheeks. Barb puts her arm around Chris’ shoulder,
“Chris, honey, what’s wrong?”
¨
A few hours earlier….
Chris changes the one year olds diaper and laying him down in his crib she hands him his bottle. Picking up the sleepy eyed two year old Chris hugs her.
“Are you ready for your nap too?” The little girl lays her head on Chris’ shoulder and Chris smiles. “Okay, give me an Eskimo kiss.” The little girl giggles and rubs noses with Chris. Carrying her over to the crib, Chris lifts her up and over the rail and the little girl holds her hand out.
“Uh, uh.” Picking up the doll from the floor Chris holds it out to her.
“You can say, dolly please.” The little girl holds out her hand.
“Dau-eee, pease.” Chris smiles at her.
“Now go to sleep, pease.”
Going in search of Jason, Chris finds him sitting on the floor in her bedroom playing with his two cars. Chris ruffles his curly black hair and holds her hand out to him.
“Come on Jason, let’s go make us a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. You can spread the peanut butter for us.” Jason grins up at her and Chris sees the delight in his eyes.
Trying to be quiet as they walk through the living room Chris hears a thump and the one year old starts to cry. Chris glances at her foster mom who is lying on the couch.
“Dammit Chris, I told you to keep those brats quiet. You know I have a pounding headache.” Chris flinches as Jason squeezes her hand tighter. Chris whispers down to him.
“It’s okay Jason. Let’s go see why he’s crying and then we can eat lunch.”
¨
Pouring Jason a glass of milk Chris hears someone knocking on the front door. She tilts her head listening to see if her foster mom will get her fat butt off the couch.
“Chris!”
“Guess not.” Chris sighs. “Eat your lunch Jason and I’ll be right back, okay?”
Opening the door, Chris looks at the lady standing there.
“May I help you?”
“Hi, are you Chris?” Chris nods her head. “Hi Chris, my name is Miss Vetro. I am your new social worker. Is your foster mom here?”
Chris looks over at her foster mom who is getting up off the couch muttering. “Shit, what does she want? Well don’t just stand there, let her in.”
Chris smiles and opens the door wider, “Please come in.” Miss Vetro thanks her and steps inside. Jason comes looking for Chris and clutches her hand as their foster mom gives Chris the look that says, Go in the other room, I’ll take care of her. Chris tugs on Jason’s hand.
“Come on Jason, we will go finish our lunch.”
“Chris, I need you to stay. I have some questions for you also. May I sit down?” Picking up the magazines from the chair, Chris cringes as her foster mom snaps at her.
“I told you to pick those up earlier.”
Chris lowers her eyes wishing she could disappear as Jason tugs at her hand.
“Chris, I’m hungry.”
Still looking down, Chris shuffles her feet.
“May I?”
“Yes, but please come right back, okay?”
¨
Coming back into the living room Chris sees Miss Vetro writing in her notebook and Chris sits down on the foot stool across from her. Clasping her hands in her lap, Chris looks down at her big toe that’s peeking out from her shoe.
“Chris, why haven’t you been in school?” Chris looks up and looks over at her foster mom. “No. Chris I’ve already asked her, now I’m asking you.” Clenching and unclenching her hands Chris looks back at her shoe and shrugs her shoulders. Miss Vetro reaches over and pats her on the knee. “Chris, do you like school?” Chris nods her head. “Do you have friends at school?”
Chris whispers. “A couple.”
“Don’t you miss your friends?” Chris doesn’t answer. “Okay, let me ask you this, are you a good student?”
“I don’t know. I guess I am.”
“Chris, I talked to your teacher, Miss Bailey, this morning and she tells me that you are a very good student. She says you are sweet and kind and that you are very helpful. She also told me that you are a very bright young lady.” Still looking at Chris, Miss Vetro takes a breath. Her mind is spinning in every different direction. This is the first case she has been assigned and she was told, First rule, don’t get emotionally involved. Go in, assess the situation and see if the child should be removed from the home. How can she not get emotionally involved? Looking at Chris she feels sorry for her. Not only are Chris’ clothes stained with holes in them, but Miss Vetro can clearly see that Chris’ shoes are too small, making her wonder, What do these people do with the money they receive to take care of these kids?
“Chris, I am going to take you and place you in a different foster home. While I sit here and go over paperwork with your foster mom, I need you to go pack up your stuff. Chris stares at her. Miss Vetro pats her on the leg again, “Chris, please?” Grudgingly Chris gets up and goes into her room grabbing the few things she owns and puts them in a grocery bag. Coming back into the living room, Jason walks over and grabs Chris’ hand.
“Chris, where you going?” Getting down on her knees, Chris looks into his eyes.
“I have to go Jason. They are going to put me in a different home.”
“No Chris, I don‘t want you to go.” Chris sees his bottom lip start to quiver.
“It’ll be okay Jason. I want you to do me a favor though, okay?” He nods. “I want you to be good. Don’t get into trouble and help take care of the little ones, okay?” Jason nods and with tears in her eyes Chris hugs him before standing up. “I love you Jason.” Not wanting Jason to see her cry Chris quickly walks out the door with Miss Vetro right behind her. After opening the car door for Chris, Miss Vetro walks around and gets in the other side assuring Chris it’s going to be alright. Still fighting back the tears that threaten to fall and with a trembling voice, Chris lashes out at her.
“How can you say it’s going to be alright? Who’s going to take care of them if I’m not here? I can’t just leave them! Why are you taking me away? Why not take them and place them in a new home?”
Miss Vetro sighs, “I can’t because I’m not their social worker, but as soon as we get back to my office, I will talk to my supervisor and try to have them placed elsewhere, okay?”
Chris looks over at the house and sees Jason watching her through the steamed up window. Seeing the tears run down his cheeks, she whispers. “I’m sorry.”
It has been cloudy all morning. Chris watches the first few drops of rain splash onto the sidewalk and she shivers.
“Are you cold? Did you bring a jacket?”
Still staring out the window, Chris sadly shakes her head, “I don’t have a jacket.”
khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02039448074178382326noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2017306041804208602.post-2787011224905045262012-06-18T12:24:00.003-07:002012-06-18T12:24:38.701-07:00Mondays Are Me DaysHappy Monday everyone! I have decided to dedicate Monday as "Me" day.

I have blogged, tweeted, read emails, and responded to all.

I had a healthy lunch; wild caught salmon, half of a baked sweet potato, and fresh cooked broccoli.

No fats or oils, but there was fresh ground black pepper, a sprinkle of iodized sea salt, ground ginger, fresh basil and lemon from my backyard. And to wash it all down, a glass of carrot juice served in a wine goblet!

I have always looked at Mondays as a new beginning. A start day, so to speak.

It's a brand new day to a brand new week. Time to start eating healthy.

Get into an exercise routine. Just do something good for you.

I like to clean house, catch up on laundry, and start new projects on Mondays.

And when I say clean house, I mean clean house. Scrubbing floors, (On hands and knees of course)

toilets, and bathtubs. Polishing and dusting furniture and running the vacuum. Yes, you can call me crazy,

but I like a clean fresh smelling house (Especially after cooking fish and broccoli) and crawling into bed at night with fresh, crisp, clean sheets. Sweet!

I also like to do yard work. There isn't any better way to get some fresh air and exercise then pulling weeds, trimming around planters, and mowing.

So I will leave you all with some good thoughts and make your Monday a "Me" day!

And if you get a chance stop by my other blog and read my review of "Catch Her in the Rye"

I am headed to the jungle in my back yard!

Elements of my novel "Awake in the Mad World" are, inarguably, “coming of age, identity and self-discovery”. But also, it’s about place, and asks, Where do the dreamers fit in? Where, in the modern American conversation that’s been changed by technology and is continuing to be changed by the political landscape? How we communicate and what we’re communicating about is managing some sort of odd relevance and mindlessness simultaneously. That said, is the importance, then, of one’s search for Self in this country being put on the backburner as greed and distraction take precedent by governing how we define our survival as artistic, creative thinkers? This is not an often nor heavily vocalized concern among those of my novel, not this particular topic, but they are on the edge of its weight and worry, and are therefore living in the early part of the new millennium where this conversation is developing as an imperative. And though the novel’s characters representing this search are post-graduates in their mid-twenties, the disillusioned and disenfranchised in our culture are of all demographics, ages, income ranges, genders and ethnicities. My novel is about human relationships, also, and how the growth and purity of our ambitions are shaped and altered by the friends and family we include on our paths to not perfection, but wholeness.

Just want to let everyone know what I have been up to and what to look forward to over the next couple of weeks, but first my horoscopes, which by the way, are right on today!

Aquarius Today June 14, 2012
1/20 – 2/18
If you want some alone time today, that's fine -- but don't just drop off the face of the earth and leave people guessing about what happened to you. You owe it to your friends, family and coworkers to let them know what and where you are -- both emotionally and physically. If you want to have the freedom to come and go as you please, you need to provide the respect that other people deserve. Plus, they will worry about you if they don't know what's going on. Save them from that. "Okay, will do!"
Rooster Daily Overview
Although you may not be fortunate in the love and wealth department, you might see yourself becoming successful career-wise. This, however, does not come without significant hard work from your end. With that said, make sure that you enjoy whatever leisure time you might have.
Dog Daily Overview
Be patient as you might experience a lot of problems today. You need to go through this in order to better appreciate the things to come when your own work brings about success. Don't get distracted by a blooming romance, as you need to iron things out around you before you indulge in some 'me' time.

So to catch up, I have been interviewing other authors on my other blog and you can find them here;
Sara Flower- I love her pen name. Did you know Flower is her middle name?

And Victoria Limbert. I love her cover for Lilith! It goes great on my blog!
On June 20th Sydney Aaliyah will be visiting us from Australia!
I've also been trying to help promote other author's books here on this blog.
"Ransom" by Emily Guido is her second book in her series, "The Light-Bearer"

And coming up on June 18th, I'll have a peek at

Damon Ferrell Marbut's "Awake in the Mad World"

Which brings us to: I have been interviewed myself 3 times over the past couple of weeks. I had a great time doing Eden's interview here http://edenbaylee.wordpress.com/2012/06/01/inside-the-authors-mind-karen-einsel/

And then I was interviewed here on Writers Block Admin Services

http://www.writersblockadminservices.co.uk/author-interview-karen-einsel/

And Tomorrow you can find me here http://sharkbaitwrites.com/

I had a great time visiting with Sharky! I should have ordered the Pina Colada though, it would have been great while I was stranded on that deserted island surfing the web!

Last but not least "The Good Dr. Grant" will be promo'd on July 8th here

http://the-ruthin-trilogy.blogspot.com/

PHEW! Wait! I haven't told you about yesterday and today!

Yesterday I had breakfast with my dad and step mom and my step sister, Val. It was great visiting with Val, since I don't get to see her too often, because she lives up in OR. Then I came home and spent the rest of the day reformatting the print version of "The Good Dr. Grant" Why? Because when I first published it, I wanted a photo of my son's dog inside the book in color. Little did I know at the time that, that one picture would jack the price of my novel way up. So instead of the average $15.00 I can't list it for less than $41.55 on Amazon. Lesson learned and I won't go into the details of reformatting, but let's just say it involves 2 laptops, MS Word, MS Works Word Processor, pdf. rtf. doc. two trusty memory sticks And a trip to the hair dresser to get all the gray hair colored!

Book Synopsis: Can romance develop between a heavenly Light-Bearer and a hellish vampire Blood-Hunter?
Tabbruis is a Blood-Hunter, he drinks blood to survive. Over millennia Tabbruis has wondered the Earth alone aimlessly living through many historical events.
Charmeine just came to the Earth in 1997. Little did she know her destiny was to be Queen of all the Light-Bearers?
When Tabbruis meets Charmeine the attraction is immediate and passionate. They are polar opposites and clash together in a strongly romantic and dramatic way. When she meets Tabbruis, Charmeine’s powers as a Light-Bearer, one who throws lightning, is triggered and grows exponentially.
Charmeine and Tabbruis soon find out they were made by God for each other; however, on the day God cast Lucifer out of Heaven, they were split up by some mistake. Charmeine sacrificed herself to save her Tabbruis but they were sent to Earth as total opposites and in different times. Tabbruis never remembered Heaven, Charmeine or their child. Until he met Charmeine, he did not know he was the King of Darkness and destined to be her Husband on Earth as he was in Heaven.
Once Tabbruis and Charmeine proclaim their love for one another, they have to battle their way to freedom from the evil forces on Earth.

Charmeine said, “No way will you die on me Tabbruis!” she ran across to the desk and got the letter opener and came to the bed cutting open a hole in the blood pack and held it up to his lips, he didn’t respond.
Angrily, she threw the blood pack in the bathroom sink. The tears were pouring out of her eyes clouding her vision. Then she came over to the bed and Tabbruis’ pallor was almost white.
Helplessness enveloped her. Charmeine yelled, “DAMN IT TO HELL!”
In desperation, she cut her finger with the letter opener. She pushed her bleeding finger through Tabbruis’ lips and rested it on his tongue and he rolled his eyes.
Urgently Charmeine said, “Taste my blood, you need to drink now Tabbruis!”
There was no response from him. Charmeine was not going to give up! Still with her bathing top on, she unzipped her hoodie and took it off.
While dripping her blood on her neck, Charmeine pulled Tabbruis up into a sitting position and leaned his mouth against her neck rubbing her bloody finger against her jugular vein and his lips.
Tears were rolling down her face and she said in his ear. “Hold on to me Tabbruis; don’t leave me now. I’ve been searching for you my whole life. Semper…tua…ero…Tabbruis.”
Finally, Charmeine felt a puncture in her neck.
Charmeine gasped at the pain but was relieved he was going to have the blood he needed to survive.
When Tabbruis began to pull on her blood, a rush of warmth ran through her body. When he pulled again, a shock of pleasure ran up and down her body.

Charmeine lay back on the bed too weak to hold up his weight up anymore. Going on his basic instincts, Tabbruis rested across the top of her with his mouth buried in her neck.
Tabbruis pulled on her blood again and an electric, sexual heat filled all her senses. Charmeine did not know what was going on. She had never felt like this before.
Charmeine pulled him closer pressing him against her and said, “Hold me Tabbruis, hold me closer.” With a low growl, he began to wrap his arms around her tightly and she moaned with pleasure.
Suddenly, Tabbruis’ senses came back to him. He turned his head from her neck ashamed of what he had done. Tabbruis’ desire was too great to be this close to her and he did not want to harm her.
Charmeine took his chin in her hands and he slowly turned his head. His eyes were green in middle but the iris was circled with black desire. Looking into his eyes she brought his head to her neck and said, “Believe.”
Tabbruis backed away and said very weakly, “I cannot; I may hurt you.”
Softly, Charmeine said looking into his eyes, “You won’t. I know you won’t.”
Charmeine kissed Tabbruis’ mouth. His fangs were exposed and she felt the fangs. Tabbruis was trying to control his needs but he could not help growling as she did this. She lowered herself on the bed and guided his mouth to her neck.
Charmeine whispered in his ear breathlessly, “Believe.”

Tabbruis could not hold back any longer, he bent down and began to pull blood from her neck again. He held her even closer now and she pulsated with white light. The warmth and tingle of her white light made him run his hands through her hair and up and down her arms.
Charmeine held him close burning with passion saying, “Always Tabbruis… Always.”
With one last pull of her blood which made her shiver, he licked her neck healing it instantly saying breathlessly, “Always.” Tabbruis lay back next to her.
About the Author:Emily Guido is a new Paranormal Romance Author. She was inspired to start writing "Charmeine" because one day she got an idea of two characters that needed to have their story told. Not ever dreaming a week later she would have over a 100,000 words written. When Emily writes, it is similar to you or I watching a movie. She pictures the characters in her head going through vivid descriptions of each scene. There are so many nuances going through her mind that she cannot type fast enough. Emily is currently editing the second novel, in
Here's that blog post
http://karensdifferentcorners.wordpress.com/2012/06/04/struggling/ And now for this one. A personal side of struggling!

Tomorrow it will be 13 years since my mom passed away. My parents divorced when I was about 5 and I grew up with my mom. During the last two years of her life my mom relied on me to make the right decisions when it came to her healthcare. Now this is where the struggling comes in. I have lived for years wondering did I make the right decisions, which brings on guilt, sorrow and second guessing, which isn't good, but on the positive note, I have learned how to deal with those feelings.

Now, my dad is 88 years old and he is actually in excellent health, except for hearing problems and my step mom has suffered numerous strokes over the past few years which have affected her speech and it is hard to understand her because of slurring and garbling her words, not to mention she speaks in a whisper. Okay that's the scene but add to it the fact that my dad wants to remain completely independent, doing everything himself, until he runs into a problem. Then he calls me to sort out the mess. And that's fine, but certain companies won't talk to me on the phone. I know there are privacy laws and that some things can't be discussed, but I am not asking for his personal information, I'm just trying to straighten out the problem.

What I have found is;

If you are not on the account, they can't talk to you.

Some representatives listen and understand and will talk to you. A big thank you to them.

With all the different accounts that people have, no matter what age you are, should you put someone else on your account to represent you. You might say, No, why should I have someone else listed on my phone bill or my gas bill or...? I have never thought about it, till now.
I called one company about a bill my dad had and the lady was wonderful, she explained everything to me, she understood what I was going through and was extremely helpful. Then when I asked her about a different problem with my dads account, she said that tech would have to help me with that and she'd gladly transfer me. And when I got to tech, I ran into a brick wall, they wouldn't talk to me. Sorry, you are not listed on that account. It was the same company just different people. They can go over everything about the bill with me, payments, charges, etc. and yet tech support can't talk to me? Go figure.

My dad likes to get on the internet and has various sites and accounts, but when he's in a hurry he tends to push the wrong buttons. Case in point, one account he got locked out of because he kept putting in the wrong password, (something that happens quite often) so he had to call and then he couldn't hear or understand what they guy was telling him, so dad told me to call. I told my dad they won't talk to me, but he insisted, so I called and no they wouldn't talk to me but suggested a 3 way call, fine, okay. They get my dad on the phone and ask him if they can talk to me and dad get's frustrated, "I can't hear you! Who is this? What do you want?" and then he hangs up. So the guy said he would send out a paper to put me on the account, my dad signed it and my step mom refused to sign it. Long story short, I ended up being put on the account.
I spent an hour on hold with two different accounts this morning before actually talking to someone.
The first company, no problem
The second company, even after explaining everything to her, telling her who I was, that my step mom wasn't here with me, my dad wasn't here with me, etc. I get, I can't talk to you. is your step mom there? no, well then is your dad there? Oh come on weren't you listening? I don't want any personal info on the account I just want to know if you received their check? A simple yes or no would work.

So besides writing, what do you struggle with?

Sorry to bend your ear, but I feel better now. And a big thank you for listening.
Hugs for a wonderful Monday!
