Are you stuck in your comfort zone?

A Friend emailed this to me this morning. It says it was written by an anonymous author, but It fit's every one of us that have stepped out of our comfort zone and realized we were brave enough to try new things, learn new skills, and to have more confidence in ourselves.  For all of you and me!

The Comfort Zone
by Anonymous

I used to have a comfort zone
where I knew I couldn't fail,
The same four walls of busy work
were really more like a jail

I longed so much to do the things
I'd never done before,
But I stayed inside my comfort zone
and paced the same old floor

I said it didn't matter
that I wasn't doing much,
I said I didn't care for things
like diamonds or furs and such

I claimed to be so busy
with the things inside my zone,
But deep inside I longed for
something special of my own

I couldn't let my life go by
just watching others win,
I held my breath and stepped outside
to let the change begin

I took a step and with new strength
I'd never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone good bye
and closed and locked the door

If you are in a comfort zone
afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners
were at one time filled with doubt

A step or two and words of praise
can make your dreams come true
Greet your future with a smile,
success is there for you!

  1. Thank you for this advice. It's truly worth reading. And a special thank you for joining my site where literature and the arts and folks who care about the risks you describe here get featured.

  2. Hi Mary, I think we all have that certain comfort zone. We are so afraid to try anything new, but sometimes life throws things our way that we don't have a choice, we have to venture out and face the world and all of life's problems, but maybe if we tried a little every day to come out of our comfort zone, maybe when life feels like an uphill battle we will be able to handle it a little better.
Hope you have an awesome weekend!

  3. Nicely put. Nothing can be gained without the courage and will to step out of your comfort zone. Thank you for the reminder. Love the poem.

  4. It is a sad reality that some relationships end when one person moves out of their comfort zone and the other person doesn't.

    1. I hadn't really thought about it that way, Patricia, but now that you mention it, it's true. Many relationships do end, because the person that won't budge from their comfort zone, become bitter and jealous of the person that does.
